So This is Adam Joel, the short version of his story. AJ was born into musical family and music has always been an integral part of his life. Writing his first songs around the age of eight. Since then, he has been involved in the Northeastern Christian music scene, including years as singer/songwriter for the band Mars Hill. God sent him to a local church to engage in a worship leader position, where he has served for nearly a decade. After years of growing, leading and an intense introspective journey, in which the Father would ultimately humble him, and show him the contrast between His plans and the FATHERS, He felt a familiar call drawing him back into the broader missions of music.
"From the beginning we wanted to be real, as God put it empty vessels. we were passionate about being the same people on and off the stage, with no preconceived notions on how Christian should look. We believe the call is not about putting on a show or performing, but rather this ministry in its purest form is about worship and pointing people toward the hill of the cross where the work is already complete and perfect. Worship is so much more than something we participate in or some ritualistic symbol of relationship. Worship is not defined by the style of music, or the setting in which it takes place. Worship is shown through our lives. The songs I write are my worship to God from a place of honesty as I wrestle with the tension of how things are and how they should be."
Musically, Adam Joel has been influenced by a broad spectrum of artists such as Dave Matthews, Steven Curtis Chapman, The Fray, Third Day, Coldplay, Jeremy Camp, and Switchfoot. The music might be defined as acoustic rock though not a specific genre. The resulting sound is unique.
